With effect from May 29, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran will step down as Director and Chairman of Tata Chemicals, the company told stock exchanges on Wednesday.

With effect from May 30, S Padmanabhan, an existing Director, was named the new Chairman after the Board accepted his resignation. Modan Saha has also been named an Additional Director, with effect from May 28.

“I am writing to formally inform you of my decision to step down from my position as a director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tata Chemicals Limited w.e.f. May 29, 2025,” Chandrasekaran wrote in his letter to the Board.

“After careful evaluation my current and future commitments, I have decided to step down from the Board. It has been a privilege to chair the Tata Chemicals board and I sincerely appreciate the support and collaboration during my tenure,” he further added.

During a time of strategic change and realignment within the Tata Group, Chandrasekaran served as Chairman of Tata Chemicals.

“The company has taken on record the request received from Mr. N Chandrasekaran via his letter dated May 28, 2025 conveying his intention to step down from the position of Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company with effect from May 29, 2025,” the company stated in a stock exchange filing.

With effect from May 28, Saha has been appointed as an Additional Director (Non-Executive, Non-Independent) in accordance with the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendations.

At Tata Sons, Saha is now in charge of a few strategic initiatives. He formerly served as Tata Digital’s founding director and CEO of financial services.

He served as the CEO of the Tata Strategic Management Group, which assists the Tata Group Chairman’s Office and Tata Group enterprises with strategy and transformation projects, before joining Tata Digital.

Saha had a variety of positions in the financial services industry with organizations such as ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and UBS Singapore.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the “Civil Investiture Ceremony-II,” where 69 people received Padma Awards.

As part of the government’s outreach to the international community regarding the fight against terror and Operation Sindoor following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, an all-party parliamentary delegation headed by Supriya Sule, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar, arrived in Qatar late Saturday.

The delegation includes former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin, Telugu Desam Party leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Aam Aadmi Party leader Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney, Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan, and Sule, the NCP-SP’s working president. Additionally, it will visit Ethiopia, Egypt, and South Africa.

“Conveying India’s strong message against terrorism to the world! A warm welcome to the multi-party delegation led by @Supriya_sule to Qatar. Shashi Tharoor, who is heading a delegation of the Members of Parliament, arrived in Guyana on Sunday on the second leg of the mission to expound India’s anti-terrorism message and Operation Sindoor’s goals.

The all-party delegation includes MPs Shashi Tharoor (INC), Shambhavi (LJP – Ram Vilas), Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), GM Harish Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Murli Deora (Shiv Sena), and Tejasvi Surya (BJP), along with Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

“It is Guyana’s 59th Independence Day tomorrow (Monday), and we will be present at the midnight speech by the President (Irfaan Ali) tonight,” Tharoor said in an X post announcing his arrival.

“Together in the fight against terrorism, Baijayant Jay Panda and other members of the All-Party Delegation called on Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. Meeting discussed matters of mutual interest & India’s commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms,” the Embassy said in another post.

The delegation also went to Bab Al Bahrain, a famous landmark in Manama, later that day.

During their visit to Bahrain, the Indian lawmakers also engaged with the local diaspora and communicated India’s steadfast and united stance against terrorism.

Taking to X, BJP MP Panda said, “Our Indian diaspora has succeeded globally, and this makes us all very proud. Today, along with my esteemed colleagues from the all-party delegation, we engaged with the Indian community in Bahrain and conveyed India’s unified and unwavering stance against terrorism”

Asaduddin Owaisi, an AIMIM MP and member of the delegation led by Jay Panda, gave an overview of the tour’s itinerary and spoke to the larger regional background.

“We will be going to Bahrain. Then we will be going to Kuwait, then Saudi Arabia and lastly Algeria. Now, it’s evident that the recent incident in Pahalgam was a tragic one, and for many years, as you and I both know, our neighbouring country, Pakistan, has been running terrorist camps on its own soil, providing them with shelter and support. These terrorists then cross over into our country to carry out attacks. We will be visiting these four countries to present these concerns and realities before them,” Owaisi said.

Beginning with a multi-nation journey that includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria, the visit aims to fortify India’s regional ties and underscore the nation’s resolute opposition to cross-border terrorism.

In order to demonstrate India’s unified and uncompromising position against cross-border terrorism supported by Pakistan, the Indian delegation will now travel to Kuwait (May 26–27).

Senior dignitaries from the Kuwaiti government, well-known figures from civil society, influencers, think tanks, the media, and a variety of Indian diaspora members will all be connecting with the leaders there.
