Airlines have been directed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to inspect the locking mechanism of the fuel control switches on Boeing aircraft in their fleets.

The action follows the preliminary inquiry findings on the catastrophic Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad last month, which claimed 260 lives.

As the fuel supply was cut off, the twin engines of the doomed Boeing jet shut down seconds after takeoff, according to one of the main conclusions of the Air Accidents Investigation Bureau’s first study on the incident.

Just three seconds after takeoff, the aircraft’s engine fuel cutoff switches changed from “Run” to “Cutoff,” which sparked new worries, according to the report.

One pilot was heard asking the other, “Why did you cut off?” on the voice recording of the downed aircraft. “I didn’t,” his colleague retorted.

The FAA’s 2018 alert, which warned of a possible malfunction of the fuel control switches made by US-based Honeywell in some Boeing models, including the 737s, which also utilize the same switches, is also included in the AAIB investigation.

According to the AAIB assessment, Air India did not follow the bulletin’s recommendation that carriers using Boeing models, including the Dreamliner, check the locking mechanism of the fuel cut-off switches.

Because the recommended inspections were “advisory” rather than “mandatory,” Air India told investigators that it did not do them.

However, as part of increased safety procedures following the Air India tragedy, some airlines with Boeing aircraft in their fleets, like Emirates, are reportedly conducting independent inspections on the fuel switch locking mechanism.

The fuel control switch designs, including the locking function, implemented in Boeing aircraft, including the Dreamliner involved in the Air India tragedy at Ahmedabad, are safe, according to information provided by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States to civil aviation authorities in other nations.

According to the US aviation safety agency, Boeing operators do not now require any airworthiness directives.

Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has emphasized that the employment-linked incentive (ELI) plan is the next phase in the process of creating an Atmanirbhar Bharat, following the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

Employers will receive financial assistance through the ELI program, allowing them to create more jobs, especially for young people.

For the benefit of the country’s workforce and economy, the Minister stated that “industry and labor are two sides of the same coin” and that they must closely coordinate. He reassured participants that in order to guarantee accessibility and promote widespread participation, the scheme’s procedural requirements have been maintained straightforward.

Through media briefings, radio and television interviews, and other outreach channels, the Union Minister also urged state ministers to aggressively promote the plan. He emphasized the significance of thorough planning and grassroots awareness-raising.

Nearly the course of two years, the ELI project, which will cost a total of Rs. 99,446 crore, intends to generate nearly 3.5 crore jobs nationwide.

The gross order value of the Indian quick commerce (Q-commerce) sector is expected to increase rapidly, almost tripling from an anticipated Rs 64,000 crore in FY25 to about Rs 2 lakh crore by FY28, a report released on Thursday said.

A report by CareEdge Advisory, a subsidiary of CareEdge Ratings, estimates that the Q-commerce market in India reached approximately Rs 64,000 crore in FY25, growing at a startling CAGR of 142% during FY22-FY25 due to a lower base, hyperlocal infrastructure, and changing consumer preferences.

Growth is still robust, but the emphasis is now on restoring profitability and operational effectiveness rather than quick development. The next stage of India’s Q-commerce environment would probably be characterized by tech-led innovations and more penetration in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, according to Tanvi Shah, Senior Director and Head, CareEdge Advisory and Research.

Compared to the government, the Q-commerce market’s fee-based revenue has increased at a far quicker rate.

With a noteworthy compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26–27 percent from FY25 to FY28, the fee-based revenue, which was Rs 450 crore in FY22, increased to an anticipated Rs 10,500 crore in FY25 and is expected to reach Rs 34,500 crore by FY28.

The study looked at over 200 international markets according to their sector composition, labor index, talent pipeline, venture capital (VC) funding, and talent acquisition.

According to the survey, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are still the most popular IT destinations in India, with other big markets coming in second and third. These cities all draw international tech companies because they have a developed tech environment and access to talented talent.

Over the past few years, Grade A space uptake in both conventional and flex spaces has been driven by occupiers in the IT industry, who continue to be a key factor in the demand for office space across India’s top seven cities.

Over 10 million square feet of office space were leased by tech occupiers in the top seven cities during H1 2025, accounting for 40% of the demand for traditional space. Technology companies accounted for over half of the demand in flex spaces as well.
