Nasscom establishes a TAC to strengthen India-UK technology cooperation

The UK Technology Advisory Council (TAC) has been established by Nasscom, the top organization in the IT sector, and will act as a strategic industry advisory body to the High Commission of India in the UK, providing organized input on enhancing the India-UK technology cooperation, according to an announcement made on Thursday.
The goal is to increase cross-border trade, investment, and talent development, simplify doing business, and strengthen government-led technology security efforts in artificial intelligence in order to meet Vision 2035’s objectives and the FTA objective of doubling bilateral trade.
The Technology Corridor between India and the UK will be reinforced, and Indian technology businesses will be further established as trustworthy and dependable partners in furthering the UK’s digital aspirations, with the TAC acting as the primary focus.
India is still the second biggest source of FDI in the UK, while the UK is still the second biggest market for India’s technological sector.
“Technological cooperation plays a crucial role in forming bilateral ties,” said Periasamy Kumaran, India’s High Commissioner to the UK.
“The UK market continues to be a top priority for the Indian IT sector, which also creates high-value jobs, develops local talent, promotes innovation, and makes significant contributions to the UK’s economic expansion. He stated that it will be essential to establish trust and foster collaborative innovation in a society that is competing to be at the forefront of AI.
The launch happened at the same time as a report was released that showed that the UK has more than 35,000 jobs thanks to major Indian technology companies.
These businesses are also promoting the UK’s leveling up (regional growth) agenda by making investments in local talent, creating high-value jobs, and developing digital capabilities across regions including Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, Birmingham, Reading, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Nearly 62% of their local labor is located outside of London.
“The India-UK technology collaboration has progressed beyond business ties to become a strategic pillar of economic growth, innovation, and digital transformation for both countries. Rajesh Nambiar, President of Nasscom, stated that the UK Technology Advisory Council “provides a framework for industry and government to collaborate on the opportunities and problems influencing the future digital economy. “
