Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passes away at 92

The renowned playback vocalist Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. The singer was hospitalized in Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday.
Outside the hospital, Maharashtra’s Culture Minister Ashish Shelar revealed the news. She will receive her last rites at Shivaji Park at 4:00 p. m. on Monday.
Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, had stated on Saturday that her grandmother had been hospitalized for a chest infection and excessive weariness. She asked for privacy during these moments. Due to excessive weariness and a chest infection, my grandmother, Asha Bhosle, has been hospitalized, and we would appreciate if you would respect our privacy, Zanai wrote in a post on Asha Bhosle’s official Instagram account. As a playback for the 1943 Marathi drama ‘Majha Bal’, Asha Bhosle, one of the most famous singers of her generation, sang her debut song. Among the notable songs she is famous for lending her voice to are “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko,” “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani,” “Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji,” “O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan,” and “Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana,” among many others. In addition to Hindi, she has performed in more than 20 Indian and international languages.
In 2006, Asha Bhosle herself said that she had nearly 12,000 songs to her name. Over the course of her decades-long career as a vocalist, Asha Bhosle has collaborated with a number of renowned music composers, including Shankar-Jaikishan, RD Burman, OP Nayyar, Ilaiyaraaja, Bappi Lahiri, and AR Rahman. Many of her outstanding songs have won her several honors over the course of her career. In 2000, the singer received the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and in 2008, she was awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
