Labour Day: Delhi CM grants construction workers with a 3-hour noon heat break
In light of the severe summer, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated on Thursday that her administration has ordered companies to provide construction workers with a three-hour “heat break” between noon and 3 p.m., ensuring the safety and well-being of laborers.
Speaking to workers on Labour Day, Chief Minister Gupta stated that the BJP governments in Delhi and the Center are dedicated to defending the rights and interests of workers, offering to conduct health checks on all employees and their families at the building site.
She cited labor-friendly policies implemented by the Delhi administration and stated, “Our government has taken special measures for women in the workforce by planning to build 500 creches where they will be able to leave their children for day care and the kids will remain safe and healthy.”
At a Workers’ Felicitation Ceremony event in Karol Bagh, which was organized by the Department of Labour to honor workers who are essential to the city’s development, she stated, “We are also installing 3,000 water coolers in public spaces and near construction sites so that workers can fight the heat effectively.”
She emphasized that the Delhi government had also increased the minimum salaries for workers prior to Labour Day. According to her, the government is making efforts to guarantee that laborers’ children have access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities.
“The contribution of our laborer brothers and sisters in the development of India is paramount and the best,” CM Gupta added on social networking site X. Your commitment gives India’s development chariot impetus and creates new avenues for growth and advancement. Come, let us all make a commitment to upholding the rights, respect, and concerns of our employees going forward.
After seven years, the city is celebrating Labour Day, according to Labour Minister Kapil Mishra. He asserted, “The previous government had the money, but it didn’t plan any event to honor workers on Labor Day.“
