The gross order value of the Indian quick commerce (Q-commerce) sector is expected to increase rapidly, almost tripling from an anticipated Rs 64,000 crore in FY25 to about Rs 2 lakh crore by FY28, a report released on Thursday said.

A report by CareEdge Advisory, a subsidiary of CareEdge Ratings, estimates that the Q-commerce market in India reached approximately Rs 64,000 crore in FY25, growing at a startling CAGR of 142% during FY22-FY25 due to a lower base, hyperlocal infrastructure, and changing consumer preferences.

Growth is still robust, but the emphasis is now on restoring profitability and operational effectiveness rather than quick development. The next stage of India’s Q-commerce environment would probably be characterized by tech-led innovations and more penetration in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, according to Tanvi Shah, Senior Director and Head, CareEdge Advisory and Research.

Compared to the government, the Q-commerce market’s fee-based revenue has increased at a far quicker rate.

With a noteworthy compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26–27 percent from FY25 to FY28, the fee-based revenue, which was Rs 450 crore in FY22, increased to an anticipated Rs 10,500 crore in FY25 and is expected to reach Rs 34,500 crore by FY28.

According to the research, this dramatic rise is the consequence of major companies raising platform fees, which raises revenue realization and significantly raises GOV overall.

Even if the Q-commerce sector only accounts for about 1% of India’s enormous grocery market, it is precisely what makes it so fascinating.

According to Amir Shaikh, Assistant Director, CareEdge Advisory and Research, “Q-commerce is set to grow rapidly as more consumers embrace the speed and convenience it offers, even if the broader grocery market growth remains flat.”

The quick uptake of e-commerce and Q-commerce platforms has been made possible by this digital backbone. India is the second-largest e-retail user base in the world, with over 270 million online customers in 2024.

The e-commerce market is anticipated to sustain a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.5% through 2030, having grown 23.8% year over year in 2024.

Growing consumer spending power and increased digital penetration are major factors driving India’s Q-commerce boom.

With 806 million internet users as of early 2025—a 6.5% YoY increase—and more than 1.12 billion mobile connections, the nation is expected to have more than 900 million users by the end of the year.

India is one of the top 10 IT markets in the world for 2025. It stands out in particular for the availability of talent, as its top six cities are in the top 10 in Asia-Pacific for tech talent acquisition.

According to the Colliers report, three of the top ten cities in the world—Beijing, China; Tokyo, Japan; and Bengaluru, India—are in the Asia Pacific area, which is rapidly becoming a global center for tech talent.

Arpit Mehrotra, Managing Director, Office Services, India, Colliers, stated, “India is a powerhouse of tech talent and a key player in the global innovation ecosystem, supported by availability of skilled talent and employment opportunities across Tier I as well as emerging cities of the country.”

Sixty-nine percent of Asia Pacific’s tech talent is concentrated in India’s top tech cities. Nearly 50% of the conventional office space uptake in H1 2025 was driven by tech leasing activity in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, which are home to the largest talent clusters in the area.

“India’s office markets will continue to feature prominently among the top destinations for technology-led global economic expansion due to the availability of high-quality office space, robust IT infrastructure, and cost competitiveness,” Mehrotra continued.

The study looked at over 200 international markets according to their sector composition, labor index, talent pipeline, venture capital (VC) funding, and talent acquisition.

India is one of the best places in Asia Pacific and the world to find tech talent. According to the survey, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are still the most popular IT destinations in India, with other big markets coming in second and third. These cities all draw international tech companies because they have a developed tech environment and access to talented talent.

Over the past few years, Grade A space uptake in both conventional and flex spaces has been driven by occupiers in the IT industry, who continue to be a key factor in the demand for office space across India’s top seven cities.

Over 10 million square feet of office space were leased by tech occupiers in the top seven cities during H1 2025, accounting for 40% of the demand for traditional space. Technology companies accounted for over half of the demand in flex spaces as well.

India’s commercial real estate market is still being propelled by Global Capability Centers (GCCs), especially those in the technology sector. India has solidified its position as a worldwide center for GCC development, particularly in its top office markets, by emphasizing innovation, scalability, and cost effectiveness.

With GCCs gradually changing from typical back-office operations to strategic innovation hubs, India continues to be a top choice for international businesses, especially in the technology industry.

At 5.2 million square feet, tech occupiers made approximately 41% of all GCC leasing in H1 2025. It’s interesting to note that over 85% of this demand came from Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad combined, according to Vimal Nadar, National Director and Head of Research, Colliers India.

Apple has announced that its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) would be Sabih Khan, an executive of Indian descent who has worked for the computer firm for 30 years.

Jeff Williams, who is leaving the position this month and plans to retire later this year, will be replaced by Khan. The change in leadership occurs while Apple is dealing with problems like declining iPhone sales and tariffs.

Until his retirement, Jeff Williams, who has over 27 years of experience with Apple, will continue to head the company’s design team and health initiatives.

Tim Cook, the CEO, will then receive direct reports from Apple’s design staff. Cook called Williams an important contributor to Apple’s success and commended him for his outstanding efforts.

He gave Williams credit for creating one of the world’s greatest supply chains, introducing the Apple Watch, establishing the company’s health policy, and guiding the design team with zeal and dedication.

According to an analysis of individual traders’ profits and losses in the Equity Derivatives Segment (EDS), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said Monday that, on average, nearly 91% of individual traders experienced net losses in the EDS in FY 2025 (a similar trend was noted in FY 2024).

Index options turnover is down 9% (in premium terms) and 29% (in notional terms) year over year, according to a comparison of the growth in trading in the Equity Derivatives Segment (EDS) with the Cash Market following recent measures.

The SEBI study stated that the volume of index options is up 14% (in premium terms) and 42% (in notional terms) compared to two years ago. It also stated that the turnover of individuals in EDS in premium terms is down 11% year over year and up 36% over the same period two years ago.

The regulator reports that the number of distinct individual investors dealing in EDS has increased by 24% from two years ago and decreased by 20% from the preceding year.

The report stated that, in comparison to other markets, “India continues to see relatively very high level of trading in EDS, particularly in index options.”

According to SEBI, patterns in index option turnover would be monitored going forward in order to protect investors and maintain market stability.

Better monitoring and disclosure of derivatives risks, fewer instances of arbitrary ban periods for derivatives on individual stocks, and improved oversight of the potential for concentration or manipulation risk in index options are some of the measures that SEBI has implemented to make sure that the rapid growth of the derivatives market is matched with appropriate risk monitoring metrics.

Technical specialists from the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which represents the nation where the aircraft was designed and built, are part of the investigation, which is being headed by AAIB personnel.

The AAIB’s Director General is in charge of the investigation. An air traffic control officer and an aviation medical specialist are also part of the investigating team. At the AAIB Lab, the NTSB crew also collaborated closely with Indian authorities. The technical investigation was also attended by representatives from engine manufacturer GE and Boeing.

Sharma acknowledged that there were difficulties during the first phase of the GST’s introduction, but pointed out that many of the problems were resolved by prompt government actions.

“The adoption of GST has grown steadily over time, which is very good for the Indian economy,” he continued.

Sharma concurred with the results of a recent Deloitte survey that indicated 85% of companies thought the GST had improved their operations.

Businesses used to have to cope with a variety of tax rates and compliance requirements. Because of the centralization of the tax system under the ‘One Nation, One Tax‘ premise brought about by the GST, conducting business in India is now considerably simpler, Sharma said.

He added that although there has been significant progress in the last seven to eight years in the implementation of the GST, more can be done.

“We need to concentrate on streamlining the tax process, addressing taxpayer complaints, and guaranteeing quicker refunds in order to proceed more successfully,” he said.
