A new split-screen capability for Edge that enables users to compare two tabs side by side is apparently being tested by Microsoft.

According to The Verge, the function was found by Reddit user Leopeva64-2 and is now marked as experimental in Microsoft Edge’s beta, development, and canary releases.

A new button will show up next to the address bar once the feature is activated, allowing users to divide an Edge window into two distinct tabs side by side.

According to the source, Windows already has a built-in split view that allows you to compare tabs next to each other, but doing so is difficult unless you pull the tab all the way to the edge of the screen.

Edge’s built-in split view makes things simpler with just one click, eliminating the need to reorganise your tabs or start a new browser window.

Microsoft, meanwhile, stopped supporting the Edge web browser on Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.

Additionally, Microsoft Edge WebView2 for both operating systems no longer receives support from the firm.

An application’s web content can be embedded using the developer control WebView2.

Users must now update to Windows 10 or Windows 11 in order to use Chrome anymore because support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 has also been discontinued.

Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul are officially a married couple

India’s 5G phone market would grow by more than 70% by the end of 2023: Report

It’s a done deal! Cricketer KL Rahul and actress Athiya Shetty have been declared man and wife. The pheras took place at the magic hour of the evening for the wedding ceremony, which was held on Monday at Suniel Shetty’s farm in Khandala.

Following the ceremony, Suniel and his son Ahan Shetty exited the building, greeted the media, and gave candy to those who had gathered outside.

The father-and-son team wore traditional Indian attire. Suniel was dressed in a crepe-colored Kurta and pyjamas, while his son was dressed entirely in white ethnic clothing.

Suniel expressed his happiness to the media, saying that he was extremely pleased with how well the event went and that the family has something prepared for the celebration once the Indian Premier League is over because Rahul has work obligations in the cricket league.

The “Phir Hera Pheri” actor further said that he still views Rahul as a son, just as he does Athiya, and expressed the opinion that the term “in-law” is no longer relevant.

Athiya and KL Rahul invited their friends to a sangeet night before the wedding. The celebrations were ignited by Suniel and his wife Mana, as well as Athiya’s closest friends Krishna Shroff and Akansha Ranjan.

India’s 5G phone market would grow by more than 70% by the end of 2023: Report

50% of iPhones will be produced in India by 2027

According to a recent projection, India would create 45–50% of Apple’s iPhones by 2027, on par with China, which made 80–85% of iPhones in 2022.

Luke Lin, a research analyst for DigiTimes, predicts that the greatest winners from the shift in the smartphone supply chain away from China would be India and Vietnam.

By the end of 2022, according to Lin, India would produce between 10% and 15% of all iPhones, while the country’s actual output to far is less than 5%.

“However, the speed of supply chain migration to India will be accelerated in the future because of the need for diversifying risks in light of uncertainties of China’s pandemic control,” said Lin.

Apple has increased production capacity in India and Vietnam despite the supply chain being threatened by pandemic concerns in China and geopolitical dangers.

Apple has accelerated the move of its iPhone and iPad manufacturing to India and Vietnam, respectively.

“Some Apple Watch probably will also be assembled outside China as well,” Lin mentioned.

As Indian policy encourages local manufacturing, Apple wanted to gradually increase manufacturing in India, the report said.

“They believe it will help local consumers to identify with its brand and help to expand its market share there,” Lin said.

Additionally, the study noted that starting in 2019, most of Samsung’s cell phone production capacity has been moved from China to Vietnam.

Samsung also maintains assembly facilities in South Korea and Indonesia.

Lin emphasised that Samsung is growing production there as well in order to gain market share there.

Private cryptocurrencies will start the next financial disaster If left to grow: RBI Governor

According to a survey released on Tuesday, the market for 5G smartphones in India is anticipated to grow by more than 70% (year over year) by the end of CY2023.

The number of 5G smartphone shipments in India increased more than 13 times from the year of the technology’s initial debut, which was 2020.

“5G smartphones have clearly come a long way from a paltry 4% in CY2020 to a potential more than 45% market share in CY2023,” stated Menka Kumari, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CyberMedia Research (CMR).

Nearly 100 5G smartphones were introduced in the India market in CY2022.

“In 2023, we anticipate close to 75 per cent of the new smartphones to be introduced in the India market to be 5G-capable,” she added.

In CY2022, Samsung, OnePlus, and Vivo shipped the most 5G smartphones in India.

Xiaomi and realme were the top producers in the pricing range for 5G Value for Money (Rs 10,000–Rs 25,000).

“Going forward, we anticipate further momentum for 5G smartphone shipments in the new year driven by strong consumer demand and aggressive 5G network deployment by Indian telcos,” said Shipra Sinha, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR.

The release of 5G handsets in the area of low-cost smartphones is essential for widespread 5G adoption in India (less than Rs 10,000).

“Alongside, better 5G availability and accessibility will be key for consumer experience,” Sinha added.

VVS Laxman might take over after Rahul Dravid’s term as coach of India comes to an end: Report

The 108th Indian Science Congress will be opened by the PM on Tuesday

In only six days, the 15th FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup will get underway in Odisha. Everybody can pretty much see how much excitement there is for the event as each day goes by.

The mineral-rich state has a long history of involvement with hockey. Over a hundred national-level players, including Sunita Lakra, Dilip Tirkey, Ignace Tirkey, Lazarus Barla, Jyoti Sunita Kullu, and many more, have come from Odisha.

Many players from Odisha are currently part of the Indian men’s and women’s national teams, including Amit Rohidas, Shilanand Lakra, Deep Grace Ekka, Nilam Xess, and Namita Toppo.

The Odisha government has made significant investments in international hockey over the past 20 years, hosting a number of major multi-nation competitions like the FIH World Cup, FIH Men’s Junior World Cup, FIH Series Finals, FIH World League, FIH Champions Trophy, and the FIH Hockey Pro League.

IANS provides you with information on the venues where the world’s top hockey teams will play for the coveted trophy prior to the start of the huge sporting event.

Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar

One of the two locations for the FIH Men’s World Cup 2023 is the Kalinga Stadium. The historical region of the same name in eastern India, which includes all of the contemporary state of Odisha as well as portions of two other Indian states—Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh—gives the stadium its name.

The Kalinga Hockey Stadium is a component of the multi-use Kalinga International Stadium, which also includes an eight-lane synthetic track for athletic competition, a number of high-performance centres, a football stadium, an Olympic swimming pool, and many other things.

It houses equipment for swimming, sport climbing, football, hockey, tennis, table tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

Bhubaneswar residents are well-known in the hockey community for the sizable crowds they bring to international hockey games played in the city.

Due to the atmosphere the large audiences generate, several players from different hockey-playing nations also cite Bhubaneswar as their preferred location to play hockey.

Since about ten years ago, the Kalinga Hockey Stadium has developed into a centre for hockey worldwide. When the stadium won the privilege to host the Champions Trophy in 2014, it has already staged its first significant international competition.
The 2017 Hockey World League Finals brought the top eight teams in the world to Odisha to compete in front of a capacity crowd as a result of the event’s success.

A year later, the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup was held in Bhubaneswar, and this time it was the Kalinga Stadium that stole the show.

Since that time, the Indian hockey team has called the Kalinga Stadium its home. Both the men’s and women’s teams have practised there, and they have also played their home games during the FIH Hockey Pro League there.

The Kalinga Stadium hosted the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup in 2021 as well.

Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, Rourkela

One of the two venues for the FIH Men’s World Cup 2023 is the Rourkela, India, location, the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium.

Birsa Munda, a tribal freedom fighter and folk hero who led the millenarian movement that formed in the Bengal Presidency in the late 19th century, is honoured by having the stadium named in his honour. He is regarded as a pivotal role in the history of the Independence movement.

One of the largest cities in Odisha, Rourkela is well known for housing a number of industrial facilities, including one of the country’s first steel plants.

The city is also strategically located in the Sundargarh district, in the heart of Odisha’s eastern hockey region, which has produced a number of top hockey players for India, including former captain Dilip Tirkey, who holds the record for most caps in Indian men’s hockey history and is currently the organization’s president.

The stadium is intended to provide the local hockey infrastructure the much-needed boost it needs, opening the door for future players to have access to world-class facilities right in their own backyard.

On 15 acres of land on the Biju Patnaik University of Technology campus in Rourkela, also known as the “Steel City,” the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium was constructed.

Private cryptocurrencies will start the next financial disaster If left to grow: RBI Governor

Meta boosting Quest 2’s GPU performance

Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), stated on Wednesday that if private digital coins are allowed to develop, the global crypto meltdown would cause the next financial crisis, which will affect millions of investors.

Das emphasised that cryptocurrencies have no “underlying value” and represent significant hazards to global macroeconomic and financial stability when speaking to a group of politicians and leaders from the banking industry.

“After the development of the last one year, including the latest episode surrounding FTX, I don’t think we need to say anything more,” Das said.

“Crypto or private cryptocurrency is a fashionable way of describing what is otherwise a 100 per cent speculative activity,” he added.

Upon the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, US authorities detained San Bankman-Fried, its former CEO, in the Bahamas and filed formal charges against him for defrauding stock investors.

Since 2019, FTX has raised more than $1.8 billion from equity investors, including over $1.1 billion from 90 US-based investors, according to the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) lawsuit.

In order to increase financial inclusion and shift the economy away from cash, the RBI launched a pilot project last month to introduce its own digital rupee in the wholesale sector. This month, it wants to launch a second experiment in the retail sector (CBDC).

The CBDCs can accelerate innovation in cross-border payments by enabling immediate transactions and assisting in overcoming significant difficulties related to time zone differences, exchange rate variations, as well as legal and regulatory constraints in various jurisdictions.

Additionally, the interoperability of CBDCs offers ways to reduce risks and frictions associated with cross-border and cross-currency transactions while enhancing the function of central bank money as a payment system anchor.

Therefore, one of the main reasons for considering its issuance is the CBDC’s potential utility in easing cross-border payment difficulties.

The government has yet to introduce a bill in Parliament that will outlaw all private cryptocurrencies in India.

Meta boosting Quest 2’s GPU performance

Google Introduces new AI Programmes to link Millions of Indians

In order to improve application performance on virtual reality (VR) headsets, Meta Quest 2 devices will now provide developers with 7% extra graphics processing unit (GPU) computational capability.

In order to improve application performance on virtual reality (VR) headsets, Meta Quest 2 devices will now provide developers with 7% extra graphics processing unit (GPU) computational capability.

In order to help developers increase pixel quality and application efficiency, the business is aiming to improve developer tools and experiences, Meta stated in a Quest blog post on Wednesday.

The developer will be better able to “exploit more pixel density without significantly decreasing the resolution in order to meet the goal frame rate” thanks to the more powerful GPU.

Now, all programmers can benefit from the new 525 MHz GPU frequency.

As soon as the dynamic clocking system determines that the application might benefit from a higher frequency, it will do so automatically.

In order to maintain superior visual quality for as long as possible, the GPU will increase from 490 MHz to 525 MHz before increasing foveation.

“We’re excited about the impact this improvement will bring across our app ecosystem, and early experiments strongly suggest that a 7 per cent increase in GPU clocks will provide a better experience for both you and your app’s community,” Meta said.

Google Introduces new AI Programmes to link Millions of Indians

Google on Monday unveiled a slew of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered initiatives to address language divide on the Internet, support the digitisation of farmland in partnership with the Telangana government, and new investments to drive responsible development of AI in the nation as part of its effort to connect the next one billion users.

Google on Monday unveiled a slew of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered initiatives to address language divide on the Internet, support the digitisation of farmland in partnership with the Telangana government, and new investments to drive responsible development of AI in the nation as part of its effort to connect the next one billion users.

The business announced Project Vaani, a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, to record several Indian dialects for stronger AI language models.

The company stated during its annual flagship ‘Google For India’ event here that the move is intended to gather and transpose open source voice data from every one of India’s 773 districts and make it accessible through the Center’s ‘Bhashini’ project in the future.

“We continue to support the innovation ecosystem with a commitment to support early-stage and women-led start-ups,” Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and Vice President, Google India told the audience. “We have been partners in India’s digital transformation for nearly two decades, and we are deeply inspired by the myriad ways people have woven technology into every aspect of their everyday lives.”

A new fraud detection model for secure digital payments on Google Pay, integration with Digilocker in the Files by Google app for Android to enable quick access to important digital documents, privately, and securely, and new camera and voice search capabilities were also announced by the tech giant.
