Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal at the Paavo Nurmi Games on Tuesday after throwing 85.97 meters on his third try. However, he did not waste any time in disclosing the adductor strain that has been bothering him all season.

Chopra, who created history by being the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in track and field in Tokyo, disclosed that he continues to struggle with his adductor problem and that he plans to see multiple doctors in order to solve the recurring condition following the Olympics in Paris.

“The weather was good today, a little bit cold with the wind. But I am happy with my adductor now because I could do all six throws,” Chopra said after his win. “Every year I have some problems with my adductor, maybe after the Olympics, I am going to talk to different doctors.”

Chopra stated a great desire to participate in more competitions this season despite the recurring adductor concerns. In May, he competed in the Doha Diamond League and placed second with a ninth-best career final throw of 88.36 meters. “I came from Kuortane and will now head to Saarbrucken, Germany, and maybe to Turkey just before the Olympics. Most of the time I train alone with my coach and physio, but from time to time we exchange information with other coaches, like Jan Zelezny. I will try to stay healthy in the next weeks because then I will throw my best throws,” Chopra elaborated.

Mohan Charan Majhi, a tribal leader and four-time MLA from Keonjhar, will take office as Odisha’s new chief minister on Wednesday. This is the state where the BJP has made its maiden electoral victory.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that 52-year-old Majhi had been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party, clearing the door for him to become the Chief Minister, after a gathering of recently elected BJP MLAs at the party headquarters here.

Legislators Surama Padhi, Laxman Bag, Rabinarayan Nayak, and Prithiviraj Harichandan seconded the idea as Majhi’s name was put out for the Chief Minister position, and other MLAs backed it.

“Delighted to announce that Shri Mohan Charan Manjhi has been elected unanimously as the leader of Odisha BJP Legislature Party. He is a young and dynamic party karyakarta who will take the state forward on road to progress and prosperity as the new Chief Minister of Odisha. The former scion of the Balangir royal family, Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, and Nimapara MLA Pravati Parida were also named deputy chief ministers by the BJP.

“This includes live/deferred live and highlights of the Paris Olympics Games 2024(July 26-August 11, Paris Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8), India vs Zimbabwe cricket series (July 6-July 1), and India vs Sri Lanka cricket series (July 27-August 7) and Women’s and Men’s finals of the French Open 2024 (June 8 & 9) and Wimbledon 2024 (July 13 & 14),” said the release.

Notably, Doordarshan has agreements in place with major international sports organizations such as the NBA and PGTA to display their programming on DD Sports. The statement stated that DD Sports Channel telecasts NBA 2K League contests, a well-liked e-sports franchise.

It further stated that Prasar Bharati is in the advanced stages of negotiations with many sports organizations and agencies to include various sports tournaments and properties on its sports channel.

A number of national multisport events were created and broadcast by DD Sports in the past year. These included the Khelo India Youth Games in Tamil Nadu, the Khelo India University Games in Astalakshmi (the eight states of North East), the National Games in Goa, the first-ever Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi, and the Khelo India Youth Games in Astalakshmi and Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg and Leh.

In addition to being broadcast on DD Sports, the feed for these matches was distributed to the nation’s top private networks, including Star Sports, Jio Cinema, and Sony Network.

The men’s and women’s cricket matches from the Hangzhou Asian Games in China were broadcast on the World Feed by the Doordarshan team. The DD team’s global feed from ground zero was broadcast on television in several Asian nations.

The rights to broadcast the Indian cricket team’s August 2023 trip of the West Indies on linear television were held by Doordarshan across all platforms. The feed of the limited-over matches in the series was generated in regional languages such Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada in addition to English and Hindi commentary. The matches were shown on various Doordarshan Network regional channels.
