With extensive precautions taken to guarantee a fair and seamless execution, the NEET UG 2026 will be administered by the National Testing Agency on Sunday during a single session between 2:00 p. m. and 5:00 p. m. (IST).
Candidates who are eligible for compensatory time, such as those in the PwD/PwBD categories, will be able to sit the exam until 6:00 p. m.
The NEET (UG) exam is being conducted on a large scale this year, with about 22. 79 lakh candidates registered. One of the biggest entrance tests in the world, the exam will be administered in a pen-and-paper format in 551 Indian cities and 14 foreign cities, covering over 5,432 centers.
A massive administrative and security infrastructure has been put in place by the NTA for the test. As part of coordinated efforts, more than 6,000 observers have been sent to monitor operations independently, while 674 municipal coordinators are supervising the activities. Police agencies, district administrations, invigilators, and center superintendents are all actively participating, especially in the safe transfer of sensitive information.
Between 11:00 a. m. and 1:30 p. m. , Candidates must report to their designated centers. The entry gates will close at 1:30 p. m. , and there will be no exceptions. People wearing traditional or religious garb or full-sleeved clothing have been instructed to arrive early in order to allow enough time for thorough security inspections.
According to the regulations, candidates must bring a printed admission card, a current original picture ID, and two passport-sized photos for attendance. The examination room only allows authorized objects. These include a clear water bottle, while diabetic candidates may bring sugar tablets or fruits like bananas, apples, or oranges.
There are still severe restrictions on the use of mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, wallets, jewelry, metallic goods, and food packets.
Candidates have also been recommended by the NTA to use their admit card to confirm their exam center address rather than relying only on map programs, which may occasionally display erroneous locations. Candidates have been advised to make arrangements for their journey in accordance with travel and weather warnings.
The NTA reiterated its dedication by stating that the test will be administered with complete integrity, transparency, and efficiency, with the cooperation of local governments, union territories, and state governments across the nation.
